Our school values were chosen by the whole school community: the parents and carers, the children, the Governors and the staff. We chose 11 values, one for each month that we are in school. These are the values we chose:
January
Truth and Honesty
February
Love
March
Perseverance
April
Forgiveness
May
Respect
June
Justice
July
Trust
September
Friendship
October
Thankfulness
November
Kindness
December
Equality
These values reflect the way we live and learn together in Welshpool Church in Wales Primary School and they also reflect our position as a Church in Wales School. The values are rooted in the Gospels and are the core human values that we wish our children to reflect as they take their place in society.
The values are the focus of all our Collective Worship. Each day, service is held at 9.15 am either by a member of school staff or by a member of the Churches of Welshpool Group. The children evaluate many of the daily services so that we can assess how successful we are being in our delivery of Christian worship.
There are displays about our school values in school, both in the foyer as you enter the school and also in the school hall to remind us of our values when we are in collective worship.
Occasionally there may be other interactive displays where we invite contributions from school visitors and parents and carers.
When we show these values in school, we get value stickers and points! These are added up by our Worship Leaders, and then recorded in our values jar which are on display in the school foyer. When a jar is full we get a TREAT!!! We can suggest treats in a suggestion box. Recently, we had a hot chocolate and marshmallow day, we had a disco, and we have had extra play. Last week we had some special visitors!
They were miniature Mediterranean donkeys!
