Previous Years
christmas crafts
We had a great few days at the end of term making Christmas cards, candle holders, decorations and gingerbread men. What a lovely way to finish a busy term!
Making Parachutes
In Science, we have been learning about forces, in particular air resistance. We wanted to find out how the size of a parachute affects air resistance and how quickly an object falls to the ground. Here we are building our parachutes in teams and timing how long it took them to fall.
Raising money for save the children
To raise money for 'Save the Children' this year, we took part in Christmas Jumper day. We also went to the Old Station to sing carols for our families and passers by, who kindly donated to this fantastic charity too.
3D warship models
As part of our WW1 work, we looked at various warships and the camouflage used when painting them. We then designed and made our own models of warships using clay. Don't they look great!

Electrical CircuitsWe had great fun experimenting with circuit components and building our own circuits as part of our Science work on electricity.

Bala FC football training
Some players from Bala FC visited to deliver a football training session to us. We learnt and practised new skills and tactics and had lots of fun doing so!
Tag rugby session
We recently had the opportunity to take part in a tag rugby training session- we loved developing our skills and had great fun doing so!
Peaceful Schools Project
Year 5/6 took part in a number of Peaceful School sessions at the beginning of term. We learnt about our own feelings and emotions and those of others, and developed our understanding of how we can resolve conflict effectively. This was all done through enjoyable games, stories, role play and discussions.
Treasure island
We were recently treated to a fabulous showing of Treasure Island by a visiting theatre company!
Techniquest space dome visit
We loved our visit from Techniquest recently, the space dome experience was ‘out of this world’! We learnt so much about space and really impressed the visitors with our fantastic questions and ideas. Maybe we have a few future astronauts in our class?!
Creative writing
We have been busy creating picture books aimed at young children, which will teach them how to look after our world. We are really looking forward to sharing our finished stories with the foundation phase pupils soon.

Mini commonwealth games
Year 5 and 6 have had a wonderful time at the Mini Commonwealth Games event held on the Maesydre fields today. They have had the chance to take part in a huge variety of sports and have all done themselves proud with their behaviour. Da iawn!
roman soldiers
What do you think of the children's Roman Soldiers? They have 'persevered' over the Spring Term to produce these wonderful peg soldiers, concentrating really hard on their sewing skills. We are really proud of them.
motte and bailey castle visit
Last week the children were lucky enough to visit the Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust excavation taking place at the site in Welshpool! We tried our hand at washing finds, had a tour of the dig, met medieval re-enactors, played medieval games and made our own medieval style catapults! Thanks to CPAT for organising such fun activities for us.
legoland visit
Year 5 and 6 had a great time in Legoland! We were amazed by the fantastic sculptures and enjoyed the opportunity to create our own models. We also took part in a workshop where we made spinners and had a competition to see whose could spin for the longest time. There was even time for a good play in the soft play and chance to try out the rides. What a busy and exciting day!
Music Lessons
The children are really enjoying their Music Lessons with Mrs Elliott every other Wednesday afternoon. We have been learning popular songs such as Don't Stop Believing and more recently, playing tuned and un-tuned percussion to create a whole class composition. As you can see, the children are concentrating hard!
